I haven't seen that locally. Most of the teachers I have talked with are heavily against the idea of arming the teachers. But they love the idea of me being in their school armed and providing them security. Not that they could afford to add armed security to their budget. They planned on killing the SRO program until Newtown happened. That idea seems to have disappeared in a hurry. Still we have no security in the elementary schools so they are still leaving the most vulnerable as the softest targets...

Retired cops. We have plenty of retired officers around here.....I'd volunteer, and I'm sure many more would.

Volunteer or not, there would have to be an arrangement with the local law enforcement agency to qualify those volunteers with their firearms, any other weapons they carry and active shooter response. Not to be the asshole but I would be the asshole not to do it without some liability umbrella from the PD.

Ah ha....... but I was of course assuming the "liability umbrella" would be covered..........and the approval of local law enforcement would be agreed to ahead of time.

And, your right SU.......it should be done at the local level with the states approval.

With the way that New York State 'mandates' so much that must be paid for locally, the least amount of input from Albany the better off I believe the local schools would be. I would be confident if the local police agency and the local school district were on the same sheet...

We all come from different places and hopefully your states aren't quite as retarded as mine.

Yeah I know what ya mean. Tennessee would be a little more difficult than here.....I would say that here in Wyoming it would be relatively easy.......it would move right along.

laughing.gif............it isn't as bad as it seems. It does get cold here, but the lower humidity helps. The only time the cold stings is when the wind kicks in.

I've already adjusted to the weather somewhat......40 degrees actually feels warm.
