While your waiting on the photos from Elk Fork to be posted..(I'm loading the on Facebook so I can transfer them here)...here's one from the day before. We went walking on a ridge up on BLM land about 1 mile from my house.
The mountain in the background is "Carter mountain"..... 12,319 feet. It stays snow capped year around.
..........see what I mean about plenty of wide open spaces.

Saturday it warmed up to about 18 degrees so we decided to go for a hike up at Elk Cove Campground area of the Shoshone National Forest.
It was breath taking, the trail ran up along the side of a ridge (mountain), and suddenly opened up into a beautiful valley that went on forever. I found a lot of deer tracks, elk tracks, and timber wolf tracks........and these were some big wolves, the tracks were bigger th...an the palm of my hand.
Decided to go down the ridge into the bottom area around a stream, down there I found buffalo tracks, along with more deer, elk, and wolf tracks.
Picked the wrong spot to cross the small river.......broke through the ice, and got my sock's wet.....(IQ test, I failed)....luckly we were only about one, and half miles from the truck at that point, so the walk back in "Soggy Socks" wasn't to bad.
Had a great time hiking in the vastness of the Rocky Mountains. They are awesome.
We are planning on going back......on horse back, so we can cover more ground. We want to see more of that valley
Wow .... sounds very nice .... guess you will be taking your rifle's with you to hunt this next time? but do take a camra so you can take some pics .... would love to see it too.
WY was cold the other day crossing ... but at least the wind was not to bad
I know that's the truth. Ya oughta be up here at my house "on the hill" when the wind kick's up. Buuuuuuurrrrr.........but it is so beautiful, it's worth it.
