Excuse my ignorance, but when you talk about being in range of a tower, i assume there are towers all over the states providing wireless internet.

Is that the case?

If so, do you have to pay to use it, or can you just drive around and pick up and use any signal that is available for free?

I have a card that inserts into my lap top, One for Cingular, and one for Sprint.....

Depending on where I am, They can be as fast as DSL or slower then dial up... which is why I seem a little slow some times ....

So as I drive, IO looks for our next load off the net ... or plays on the forums ....
