People make mistakes ... people are not perfect ... It happens ...

Why do others think that if someone makes a mistake they should have to pay for it for the rest of their lives ... it should be thrown in their face and make them feel like shit and anytime and over and over so that they never feel like anything they do again is worth it ...

Why can't people just make mistakes and make amends for it ... and then it forgotten ... and never brought back up again ...

Is anything ever enough?

Well. We all have reasons for feeling the way that we do about certain things. For example, on February 10 1997, a friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver. He left behind a wife, a five year old son, and a seven year old son. On his casket was placed a picture that the boys had drawn that said "Have a good time in Heaven, daddy." The murderer has been out of prison for a couple of years now. In the opinion of Jim's family and friends, the murderer has not paid for his mistake - those children and that woman have paid for his mistake.

No one is perfect, but there are degrees of mistakes. Saying the wrong thing is a small mistake. Hurting someone's feelings inadvertently is a small mistake. Using bad judgement, in many cases, can be a relatively small mistake. All of those things can be minor and in most cases should (or could) be forgivable and perhaps eventually forgotten.  However, taking someone else's life due to one's own irresponsibilty is a mistake that should never, ever be erased.

How can he make amends for his "mistake?" What would be enough to wipe his slate clean? And I don't mean in the hereafter, I mean in earthly time.

Figured out what was wrong with the A/C .... My boy had all the vents open in the basement where his room is while the vent upstairs were cosed .... Of course the thermostat is upstairs ..... so about three inches of ice over the evaporator ,..... should be fine here in a little bit ...

Change his life ....  Show others where their evil ways are taking them ....   take his own life .....     For some ...  there will never be anything he can do to pay his debt.

I grew up and worked for a family ......    One of the boys while playing with a shot gun killed his brother...   Major mistake .....   Point is though ...  to this day his head is so messed up because of it ....    I do not think he will ever recover ...   So he is paying is debt every time his mind wonders back to that day.   Which is why he keeps his head as stoned as possible ....   Until he can forgive himself for the mistake he made over thirty years ago ....   he will never have a life of his own

I understand your point BC !!!! ... there is no good answer for your question ...

... there is nothing that can be done to bring back someone that died ...

the needless death of anyone ... weather it is by a drunk driver ... or an individual that just did not see the other car/truck ... some mistakes are unfortunate ...

but ...

should that person die also ... an eye for an eye ... so to say ...

How on earth can a person really repay for a person that will no longer be here because of a mistake they made ... again ... there is no good answer for that question.

but ... do they have to kill themselves or be killed to pay for it ... should they stop living also? what good would that really do?

I can see if it was ... planned ... plotted ... premeditated ... on purpose ... but ... that is different than ... well ... a car being in your blind spot ... if you can follow me ...

and in a way ... a person that drinks too much and "plans" on driving afterwords ... planned ... and that is premeditated

but drunk drivers are not the only ones that kill in accidents ... young inexperienced drivers ... distracted mothers with children in the back seat ... older people who misjudged the distance or the speed of on coming traffic ... etc.

no matter who or what ... if someone dies in an accident ... how should that person pay for that death? .... again there is just no good answer for that question ...

two wrongs does not make a right ... two deaths does not bring one back alive ....

the bible says .... judge not less ye be judged ... and I try to do just that ... it is not easy ... but I keep trying ... I try to just to .... "Let Go and Let God" ... and ask myself .... "What would Jesus do?"

Lords prayer .... "forgive me my trespasses as I forgive those that trespass against me"

I know that when one of my friends was killed when I was in high school ... in an accident ... it took a long time for me to even want to learn to drive ... I guess that is one reason it took me until I was 19 to get my drivers license ...

Whether right or wrong, I view the actions of a drunk driver as vastly different than the actions of someone who didn't see another car in their blind spot.

I was in agreement with you, sorry if it came out differently than my intention.
