Listening to the radio this morning .... The guest was a senator from Missouri .... He's explaining why he backed out of a bill he had introduced in that state to help out the trucking industry ..... Heres what he said as best I can remember .....
................. Two gentlemen ... wearing black suits came to my office one day .... They shook my hand and introduced themselves as Representatives of the Federal Highway commission ....
Then they explained to me that if I did not drop the bill I was trying to get through ... that the state of Missouri would lose it's Federal highway funding ...
So I had no choice but to let it drop ....

If this is the way it works ... we could save millions .... after all ... why do we need local governments when all they do is what the feds tell them .....

Yep, that is the way it works. Why do think the stinkin speed limit was 55 MPH for the entire country for so many years.
I think that it should still be 55 MPH for truckers everywhere.
So do I .... then I could charge even more cause it takes more time ..... And every one will have to pay more at the store for trucks to roll slowly down the highway ..... while idiots in four wheelers cut their heads off running up under my trailer while jocking for position trying to get around rolling road blocks
I think one day I'll set my web cam up to show what I see happing at the rear of my truck in split speed limit states ..... Personally ... I quit watching .... I just wait for the thump ....
