One of the under reported on news items happening now, that will become more reported on before the summer is out is the problem with the bees.
24 states ( think of what time of year it is, Bees are only active in the deep south so far) are experiencing a sudden loss of almost all bees to a disorder being named "colony collapse disorder.
Some keepers call it the vanishing or disappearing disease.
This lack of bees will effect farming, trucking, and eating habits and prices world wide...
"you can go one week and everything looks fine, and two weeks later ( wonder what the life cycle for a bee is? Rusty) everything is gone and collapsed," said Brett Rheuark. He had 220 hives and the condition has reduced his stock to 20 hives. ( quote from Fridays Beaumont Enterprise, Beaumont TX)
A P is reporting this illness has killed tens of thousands of colonies in 24 states from Florida to California.
Some south west crops that depend on Bees for pollination include Cantaloupes, cucumbers, pumpkins, pears, apples, and watermelons.
Decimation of colonies has been happening locally ( south Texas) for SEVERAL YEARS on local bee keeper had 20 colonies in December now has 3.
end of all quotes.......
What changed a few years ago and is accelerating? Change to 3-134? change of additives in unleaded gas? ( lots of refineries around here...)
Looks like what ever is the cause and it could be sun activity which is on the rise causing the effects of global warming to appear real. The effect on trucking will become apparent this summer.... think of the loss of important parts of the row crops and melon crops followed by a lack of summer fruit crops due to a lack of pollination...... the coming storm has a new dimension to think about... Natural (is it really?) disaster....
