I am assuming you host/admin the site? Depending on what style of board it is (phpBB2, etc.) I can direct you to a site that has a bunch of themes and then we can customize one to exactly what you want? That way no one has to worry about mis-written code or anything.

It is a super idea! I would have never thought of it, but I am gonna suggest something similar to my sister. She's into geneology and getting the family together in one place....that would work out very well!

When my grma passed away a couple years back we found boxes of old pics. I scanned them and restored them on the PC and sent some to my sister after we identified who they were. It was really cool. We have a bunch that no one is sure who they are though?????

I like that kind of stuff, I get into my history, it can be interesting at times.

I have family in my state that I have seen all of my life and then I have brothers and sisters in Florida, Ill. & Arizona......I only see my brother & nephews from Illinoise every 2 or 3 years. But, with my sister's family tree stuff I have got to talk to some online I never knew existed....it was pretty cool!

I see you made some color changes......do you have the ability to upload your own themes for your forum here at Sparklit? If so.......find a color scheme you like and it can be customized to your own graphics kind of like at TAH......

From what I can tell.....active board seems to be compatible with PHpBB themes???? If so, and you can upload your own themes.....you should be able to choose a free PHPBB theme and change it to your own design and then upload it to your activeboard???? I think.....

OK...I played around at sparklit and made a free forum (and then deleted it). It seems you can customize your site, but to a very mild degree. You can upload header images but not to their server, you have to host them somewhere else and insert the html (location) of the picture. You can also customize the background image the same way. No where did it say what the file size limitations are though?????

Over at TAH, they own the actual domain and have it hosted on a server using PHPBB
( http://www.phpbb.com/ ). With that kind of forum you can download a theme package, change items in it to suit your needs and then upload the entire theme to the site as an active skin. It is a really nice way to make a forum all your own style. Now with activeboard....it doesn't look as though you have the ability to upload an entire theme? You can change certain pieces, but not by uploading your own images to their server. That makes the idea of customizing it very hard to do on their server.

ok...so I made a mock board again and I was correct...there are minimal things that you can change. The css code for the board is similar to PHPBB, but far from compatible. You have no option to upload a theme! I guess that is why sparklit lets you create free forums....they can keep you in check by not letting you really change too much?

So things we can do .... is put in a background pic ... and banner ... and if I want to change from this template ... they have some that we can customize ... change colors etc.

But I like this template ...

Yah, basically.....if you ever want a fully functional forum with the ability to control all aspects.....a true domain name hosted on a server with PHPBB is the way to go.

So it looks like I won't be able to help you too much with the other site as of yet......I will do some more research into the CSS/html code and see what I can come up with.....
